Online shopping records also bring record impersonation
Over the past week, there has been a significant jump in fake domains mimicking major shopping sites. Some of them look completely real and cause users to hand over credit card details or open files that appear innocent. When employees use their corporate email address to do this, the path to a security breach is wide open.
The path to a security breach
During Black Friday, employees tend to sign up for websites, receive coupons, and download “sale” invoices, but quite a few of them use their corporate email address to do so. Once the corporate email enters the mix, it is no longer a private purchase. It is a technical vulnerability and a very likely opening for a breach.
Fake shopping sites, registration forms, and sending “order confirmations” are precisely the mechanisms attackers exploit to harvest passwords, perform account resets, and steal identities. Once an attacker has access to the corporate email, the path to takeover and breach is short.
What should I do?
This is where Ironscales changes the game rules. The system detects in real-time spoofing based on forged domains, fabricated purchase messages, malicious invoices, and password reset attempts sent via “deal sites.” This enables the MSP to stop the attack before it even starts.
The conclusion is simple: using corporate email for Black Friday shopping is a security breach. The Ironscales layer closes it.
As an MSP, what should you do?
For an MSP, this is both an opportunity and a responsibility. Your clients do not always understand that their private browsing directly impacts the organization's risk level. When an employee uses the same device for personal shopping and accessing corporate services, a gray area is created that allows for intrusion. This is precisely where a professional MSP must provide awareness training and a layer of protection for email, identities, and remote access.
